HOW I WORK

I don’t work alone, I work with YOU!

Step 1

We clarify

the “stuck points” you’re dealing with

How does it look?

When we meet, I learn from you what’s keeping you stuck from doing what you care about through the eyes of behavioral-science and current evidence-based practices.

A stuck point is any struggle you’re having because of worries, fears, anxieties, intrusions, unwanted thoughts, or disruptive avoidance pattern that take you away from who you want to be and what matters to you.

What are the outcomes?

Intake appointment for 2 or 2.5 hrs.

We connect the dots of what’s keeping you stuck.

you receive a customized plan of my recommended approach to get you unstuck, skills you will learn, how often we’ll meet and so on.

Step 2

We agree on what to work on

How does it look?

After receiving your customized treatment recommendations, you and I agree where to start our work. I’ll share with you my expertise by recommending to start working on a particular area, but fundamentally you and I will agree what stuck points to tackle to.

What are the outcomes?

Focused sessions: 80-min sessions, 3-4 times a week.

Intensive treatment: 12 – 15 hrs a week.

Research-based skills derived from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, contextual-functional behaviorism, behavioral activation, and exposure response prevention

Step 3
We work together

How does it look?

We start our work by clarifying what truly matters to you in different areas of your life, enlisting congruent actions towards those personal values, and as you move forward, I’ll teach you different skills to handle all those stuck points that show up your way.

What are the outcomes?

Values clarification exercises.

Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) skills to face those unwanted situations people, activities, or internal experiences that keep you stuck.

Awareness skills to get out of your head and get into your life.

Acceptance-based skills to handle overwhelming emotions.

Defusion skills to get unhooked from problematic thinking – rumination, worries, fears, anxieties, obsessions, and other stories about yourself.

Action-oriented plans towards your personal values.

Step 4

We assess regularly how our work is going

How does it look?

On a regular basis, whether we’re working weekly or you’re participating in a focus or intensive treatment, we assess how we’re working. With that purpose, we use different ways to track our work together and pay attention to: (a) How you’re living your life, (b) how you’re handling the particular stuck point we’re working on, and (c) how you’re handling uncomfortable private experiences in general.

What are the outcomes?

Use of different logs for tracking behaviors, targeted skills, and others.

Use of validated measurements.

Step 5

We identify specific exercises for you to practice your skills outside of our sessions

How does it look?

As part of our work, we identify specific exercises for you to put into action on a daily basis all the skills you’re learning from our work together.

What are the outcomes?

Daily practice logs.

Step 6

We anticipate setbacks

How does it look?

At the end of our work we identify potential internal blocks that may get in your way of making progress and set specific skills for you to practice to keep moving forward.

We review the highlights of our work, takeaway skills, learnings, and realizations you had.

What are the outcomes?

Setback prevention plan.
